12 notes per second isn't as impressive as it sounds. Especially considering you have 2 hands doing repetitive arpeggios .

Sounds great and all, but it's lacking dynamics. I think it would sound more powerful if he was doing crescendo's and decrescendo's along with going up and down the keys.

LOL. "Kung Fu Piano" - First image i got in my head was some guy throwing some karate chops at a piano. I was recently on his website and there's a whole lot of BS on it which really detracts from the music - that is, when you actually find some of his demos under all the waffle. It's probably much more enjoyable to play, than to listen to for an hour. The New Decade set is an interesting set of pieces. THis one is sort of DP related....theres one behind him. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gk7ba-ponBs&feature=related

OK, after seeing that video now I KNOW he's in the UK recruiting for a cult. To our friends across the pond: DO NOT DRINK THE KOOL-AID!

Not as exciting as I had expected. The most exciting thing I've seen in recent times was a pianist doing extremely rapid octaves - he was dancing around the keyboard playing perfect octaves, and I suspect he was an extremely fit individual. (James - it may have been that technical pianist that you referred to once - he was of Asian descent and looked like that techo pianist that you referred to at NAMM I think) EDIT: I'm pretty sure it's Tempei Nakamura but I can't find the clip that I was thinking of. Greg.

Regardless of whether you value his technical playing ability, I believe the 'spiritual' aspect of his performance to be rather fascinating. I get the impression that he's playing the notes almost sub-consciously, automatically...he's completely lost in the music - 'floating', as I believe he puts it.
James x In martial arts. They train the autonomic nervous system to respond. This is what the man has done on piano. His autonomic nervous system is doing the playing. Quite beautiful I think. Didn't necessarily play anything constructive for the interview. Just played. Can't help but wonder what it would sound like with the sustain pedal held down.
